All Things Project is pleased to announce Astri Swendsrud: Entr’acte, a one-person exhibition of new work opening April 9, 2010.

In place of explanation, Samuel W. Kho, curator at All Things Project, gives the following statement about the exhibition:

Entr’acte means “Between-act”.            Entr’acte is preferred over intermission.

Entr’acte stood on its own.                        Entr’acte became Furniture Music.

Entr’acte is Furnishing Music.                 Entr’acte is belief.

Entr’acte is stripped-down action.           Entr’acte is not black or white.

Entr’acte can be sinister.          Entr’acte can be frivolous.

About the Artist

Los Angeles-based artist Astri Swendsrud received her MFA in Art from CalArts, Valencia, CA and her undergraduate degree in Art from Northwestern College, St. Paul, MN. Her work has been exhibited in solo and group shows nationally, including at The Pacific Design Center, Black Dragon Society and COMA Alternative Space in Los Angeles; The Suburban and Spoke Gallery in Chicago; and The Soap Factory in Minneapolis. This is her first exhibition in New York City. Swendsrud’s work investigates the intersection of perceptual and phenomenological experience with personal association and interpretive methodologies. Her drawings and installation environments create fictionalized spaces of display and interaction, such as theatrical venues, social gatherings, and domestic interiors, focusing on atmosphere, architecture, and décor.
